5 Reasons No One Is Visiting Your Blog

Updated: Jan 6, 2020

Wondering how to increase your blog traffic fast, but you don't know where to start?

Let's look at five reasons why your blog doesn't have traffic, and how to fix it.

1. Your titles aren’t catchy enough

Your titles are mundane, which makes readers think that your content is the same. If you want to increase your blog traffic, you need to use engaging titles. Your title needs to pull your reader through the screen and make them want to read your post. Avoid “click-bait” headlines. These can make you seem like an 1897 salesman who is preaching that his “Cure-All” elixir will heal your financial burdens and prevent wrinkles. No one likes fake. No one likes salesy. People want to read tips, hacks, tricks, and relatable content that will inspire or help them.

2. You post and then you ghost

How often are you posting on your blog? If you’re posting once a week and then you suddenly “ghost” your readers for a few weeks- they will lose interest. Stop posting then ghosting! Consistent and relevant posts are key to running a successful blog and increasing your blogs visitors. According to the Marketing Insider Group, you should be posting at least 2-4 times a week if you want to increase your blog traffic. This is consistent enough to keep readers involved and interested in what you have to say.

3. No one can find your blog

Your blog posts should be sprinkled with keywords in an organic and natural way. Pair keyword use with consistent posting and you have yourself an SEO match worth swiping right for. Find out what topics consumers are searching for. Research what is currently trending. Sprinkle your post with long-tail keywords (i.e instead of the keyword "coffee", use the long-tail keyword "creamy iced coffee recipes"). Tip: Use keywords not only in the body of the post but in the headers too.

4. You aren't your biggest fan

Don’t rely on Google searches alone to direct your customers to your blog. Spread the word everywhere you have access too. Be your own biggest fan. Social media is the number one way to target your potential customers. Stay active on your social media. Announce those tasteful new blog posts that you’re producing consistently. Encourage readers to share, like, comment, subscribe to your emails, check out your new posts, take a sneak peek at your upcoming sales. These posts will help drive-in customers and increase traffic to your blog fast. Social media is your direct line to your clients. So make your business known and make your content matter.

5. You don't know who you're writing to

You need to narrow down your audience. Who are you talking to? Is your ideal reader a financial investor? Is your ideal reader a single mom with toddlers? Is your ideal reader a mid-twenties female who is looking to make the switch to organic feminine products? Know this ideal client inside and out. Take time to think about what content they would take time out of their day to read. Find out what information they would find helpful or interesting. Learn your ideal reader's struggles and triumphs, so that you can create content that they care about.

Using these tips, you can increase your blog traffic and produce more effective content. If you loved this post and you're interested in bettering your overall copywriting skills, check out my 5 Ways to Improve Your Copywriting Skills.
